생존하는 개인에 관한 정보로서 성명․주민등록번호 등에 의하여 당해 개인을 알아볼 수 있는 부호․문자․음성․음향 및 영상
등의 정보 (정보통신망법 제2조)

개인을 식별할 수 있는 정보로 국가별 법률상 정의 상이

Privacy: The moral right of individuals to be left alone, free from surveillance or interference from other  individuals or organizations (Warren & Brandeis 1890)

Information privacy: Includes both the claim that certain information should not be collected at all, as well as the claim of individuals to control the use of whatever information is collected about them
